I have done a ton of research which has actually been taking away from my school . Anyway i am finding that everyday i postpone getting the MBP (15" 2.16 glossy) I feel that I am finding out more and more problems. Eg. The grainy/sparkle texture of the MBP 15" displays. I actually went to my local APPLE store today and compared every type of laptop they had. The grainy texture which i found to be more of a sparkle was pretty prominant on the 15" matte compared to the 15" which still had some of the sparkle. The 17" was better then both 15" models but was slightly worst then the macbooks which had no sparkle/grainy texture to them.

However, after all that starring and looking like an idiot at the store (note I also got some of the ppl working there to actaully notice it (score one for the good guys)) I believe i should be able to live with it. Especially when i am goign to be getting the glossy screen.

I will also be installing bootcamp and windows. From what I am reading many ppl are sucessful - besides the exceptions - so I think it should be ok ... right? :D If anyone knows if i could run autocad on it that would be awesome!

So tomrrow seems to be the big day unless someone can convice me otherwise and please feel free to do so :p

Buy one already! Sometimes we over think things.

im with floptical, i bought a 2.16mp a few days before xmas. came across these boards and people were talking about this "grain" "issue". i figured out what they were talking about and thought why is this an issue, oh yea there is no issue, some people just make problems when there are no problems for the heck of it.

you have to keep in mind when people have problems, they are more vocal about them, then people without problems.

Buy the MBP, and enjoy the heck out of it. I can't wait to get mine. Just waiting on Leopard to drop before I splurge on myself.

Agreed! :D

I love my C2D MBP, and that's coming from someone who bought an original (CD) MBP last April, exchanged it twice, and finally ended up with a full refund because of how hot they ran and the processor whine.

Yea man go for it. I bought the 2.16 15" MBP Matte and I think its grand. I don't even see this "sparkle" "grain" thing. I use it every day all day in all different type of lighting and I think it's outstanding. It beats my dad's dell laptop's screen. It beats my mom's iBook screen. I am completely satisfied with the money I've spent on it and I hope you are as happy as I am. I'm so happy, that I think my girlfriend gets a little jealous sometimes.

I use this so much that I took my desktop and made it in to a media center for my TV and I use the 20" FP for my MBP when I'm working.

It's honestly the best computer I've purchased. It's probably the best electronics type thing I've purchased. ever. period.

Enjoy yours!

Oh yea. About this grain "issue". Like someone posted before, people make problems when they can't find one. Ya know, one guy who's got a sandy beach background looks and says there's a grain issue with these screens! And what do ya know, everyone now has this grain "issue". Yea, I have a grain problem, when I look through the screen with a telescope.

Ok i'm done now

don't buy it now -- wait until Santa Rosa!

haha j/k. yeah go for it and stop browsing these forums. You're just going to kick yourself when Santa Rosa comes out, and if you'd wait for Santa Rosa, you're going to kick yourself when the next revision comes out. Use a computer for what it's supposed to be used for -- don't use it as something you always need to have the best of.

I would say buy it!

Just so you can let me know if AutoCAD works well with it. I've been in the same boat as you for a little while. Checked the screen issues and still can't make a decision.
I do some graphic and photowork aswell as AutoCAD and 3D stuff. So it would be a help if you can tell me how stuff works for you.

I'll be waiting until leopard comes out though, same time as the rev of the C2D me thinks...

some people on here are real kooks. you could probably eat dinner off the floor of their garage.

Anyway, I use AutoCad Arch. Desktop 2007 under Windows XP on my MBP. It works just fine.
