Buying a new mac - In Store purchase or order online?

I want to by a new Macbook Pro 17 inch HD, Glossy, with a 160gb 7200 HD.

My local Apple store has this exact system in stock as a brand new item.


My question is this:


Should I purchase this at an Apple store, or order it from Apple.com to insure that I have the latest weekly build with the latest components and manufacturing fixes? I think they are up to week 32 or week 33, and I would hate to buy a system from the Apple store and get a week 25 or something. I don't think they sell the 17 inch HD with upgrades as fast as the 15 inch MBP's so their stock is probably older.




What do you guys think?

I doubt it's old. They sell very quickly here in London. Ask them when they got it in stock. If you don't need a BTO, buy it at the store.

Buy it in store, they are only updated each half year or similair so you will get the latest anyway, you will get it immediatly and you will have it much easier if there is something wrong on it.

I agree, plus you might catch a break at the store. I got the educational discount on a 17" MBP without even asking for it. I think the associate wanted to give me a break on the price because I went with the Apple Care and the discounted .mac service.

I ordered my MBP at the Apple Store online the first day it released. I few days afterwards I walked in an 'Apple Premium Reseller' here in Holland and the already got it in stock. That didn't make me feel very happy, but I do know now what to do in the future when I'm buying a new mac.
So: go buy it in the store

buy it in store. I couldn't wait the two weeks it would take to ship the MBP so thats what I did. I got it 10 days ago and it was a week 31 build.

hey .. but are u all sure , they are available in stores?? wat about in san francisco area?? i am taking a risk .. aint order it online ... my aunt's gonna buy it for me , but hope she gets it the day she goes there
