Hey! I'm new here. Um...I have a G5 imac right now and I would like to get the new macbook pro, for portibility. I have some questions about the intel change for people who have the new computers.

First off I have alot of software for the power pc chips, I pretty sure that the software is compatible, but has anyone had problems with it? Thanks alot!!

I don't have an Intel myself, but I can tell you that Apple's Pro apps (Aperture excluded) will not run in Rosetta. updates to them are scheduled for March sometime.

aside from that, a list of applications might be useful :)

fast way to make such a list: open Terminal and type

ls /Applications > ~/Desktop/Applications.txt

then copy the contents of Applications.txt on your desktop into a post, edit judiciously and you're good to go :)

If it's written for the Power PC chip it will not run in the Intel chip except under the Roseta emulator. and not everything runs under Roseta. You have
to examine each program.
