Hello.

Should I use a usb cord to transfer my pictures on my canon a620 camera, or should I but a transfer gizmo:

I can see the inherent convenience of the device, but is it worth it? Is it faster to use the device or are the transfer speeds same on the usb cords?

Not only is the transfer faster, but you don't have to worry about the batteries in the camera going flat during the transfer and messing things up.

FWIW, I have a new printer that has some Flash Media card slots in it, so I now have two transfer devices that I can use. I find it convenient when doing bulk (multiple card) transfers because I can stick a card in each, do a drag-n-drop, then go do some other errand (have dinner, etc) while they transfer.

Considering that even a USB 2.0 "universal reader" is now less than $20, there's little reason not to have one.
