Hi I have always bought my iMac's new from Apple and loved them, but I have an 11 year old daughter that needs a computer for her school work and £1100+ is too much to spend on an 11 year old. I have found a second hand iMac 21.5 inch 2011 Intel i5 Processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD and running MacOS High Sierra for under £200. What would you recommend I test as this is a private sale, so hence it being a bit cheaper but £200 is still a lot of money to throw away.

I have written to look for stuck pixels/scratches on a white background, to check the sound, the keyboard, ports, check user not signed into i cloud, check the disc drive?

Any advice to one tired mum is really appreciated.

Thanks :)

Suggest going at least one more model newer. The 2012 iMac has USB3 which is much faster than USB2, and your daughter will no doubt be using an external drive to store her backups on. Also a model with an SSD (Solid State Drive) installed will be much quicker.

Thank you nambuccaheadsau, I had to decide on the deal and hadn't seen your reply and so bought it. So far it seems faster than my 2015, which I have had from new. She's only 11 so its for basic school work and Minecraft.
