buying a title on mac to view on apple tv

Hey so I noticed when I went to buy a movie in itunes on my macbook pro that it says also available on the ipad and apple tv in hd. Does this mean if i buy it on my macbook pro that it will stream it to my apple tv in HD or do I have to buy an HD version to do it, cause I dont see a place to buy it in HD on my macbook pro in Itunes.

Thanks an example of this is for the movie the descendants.

No, you buy it in one place and you can watch it anywhere you are logged in with the AppleID that you purchased it with.

That isn't what I understand. Some titles are available in HD and some say "available in HD on iPad and Apple TV". And when I discussed this in the iPad thread, they said that some titles will only play on the device you buy them on.

yeah i have a feeling that unless i buy the hd one to begin with it wont be in HD anywhere else

Of course, if you buy the SD version, you get the SD version, they don't update you automatically to the HD version. If you buy the HD version, you should be getting the HD version everywhere.

well i wish they would offer the Descendants in HD, guess ill be buying it on amazon instead oh well lol

I think some movies you can only rent in HD, and the Descendants is one of them - that is why you see that message. You can only outright buy it in SD.

This is yet another stupid restriction studios put on some of their movies. It is the same case for the last Harry Potter movie I've noticed.
