Buying a US apple TV and using in UK?

Yes it will work no problem. Mine was bought in the USA about 1 year ago.

You can either cut the US plug off and wire a UK 3 pin or find another cable. It is the standard 2 pin ones used by radios etc.

Definately will work.

I ordered one off Amazon UK and it turned out to be an import with a UK plug lead bundled. After being a bit p'd off, as I had only just come back from the US, I calmed down and it works a treat

That has to do with software, not hardware. Go to your settings and change your itunes store from Australia to US and Netflix will appear.
