Considering upgrading from a 15" MBP with 2.4ghz C2D 4gb to an iMac. Would there be a noticeable difference going to the base 21.5" iMac?

I am a professional web developer, using a text editor (textmate) and Creative Suite 3 for design all day. I don't do much photo editing, just resizing and cropping when putting them into a web layout.

My current MBP has performed brilliantly so I know the i3 will be sufficient for what I currently use. But my question is, should I consider upgrading to the i5 if I'm planning on keeping this for a few years?

The base 21.5" seems like the best bang for your buck, because to go up to a 21.5" with an i5 brings the cost to around 1500.

If I get the base 21.5 and sell the iPod touch (student), my total cost is only 1080 or so.
