Hey folks,

I currently have a D70 and D40, but I'd like to upgrade. (Not a fan of the way the light comes out on the D70 and the lack of AF lens support on the D40 is killer).

I found a local deal on Craigslist for $1,000 for a D200 BODY, MB-D200 Battery Grip, strap, 1 En-EL3e battery, Charger, Users manual, USB Cable, Body Cap, BM-6 screen protector.

Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera = 4436 - very low.

Would you say that's a good deal?

I would say it's an ok deal, but why not spring for say the D300?

Perhaps that's because the D300 body is $800 more?

Yeah... I'm definitely more focused on video and most of my money goes there, so I don't have much for a camera. I just know I'd like an upgrade from the D40/70.
And quite honestly, I'm rather new with the DSLR's and tend to use the auto settings more than I should. I'm still getting used to manual controls with my photos.

D200 has the exact same controls as the D300. Neither have scene or auto ("green") modes, the closest would be "P" (Program) mode.

If you do a little bargain hunting, you can get a D300 brand new for $1100 after rebates on eBay; using Live Cashback.

If you prefer to stay local and don't want to wait for cashback, that's an okay deal but not a great one. I sold my last D200 mint with 3000 clicks for $800; and the grip is worth another hundred, putting my "estimated value" for that package at $900. I'd offer that.

PS - I bought that same d200 for $750 :D

ahh, thanks for that insight. I think I'll have to pass on it for now then.
Thanks again!
