I have been doing my research, plenty of YouTube videos and looking at comparisons between the 13 inch and 16 inch MACBOOK pros.

However, I cannot decide between the two. What are everyones opinions on the two new models?

I was several seconds away from getting the 13 inch base model with upgraded RAM, until I had doubts about the screen size. While the 16 inch has definitely better specifications, I am more interested in the bigger screen.

I have a 12.9 inch IPAD and does run perfectly as my day to day general laptop, but I need an actual laptop for other specific related bits, and while the screen size is perfect for what I use the IPAD for, I’m afraid the 13 inch MACBOOK will be too small.

Opinions would be fab!

It's hard for people to tell you what screen size will be right for you but since you have a 12.9 inch iPad for a day to day laptop perhaps the 16" MacBook would be the better choice. You can use that and when you need more power or screen real estate then go on the 16". The only reason other than price to get the 13" would be portability. It's about a pound lighter and smaller of course.

It is definitely hard to judge. I tend to use my 12.9 IPAD as my day to day portable ‘Laptop’ whereas this would be for more particular tasks and where I would get an IMAC but it still would need to be portable so MACBOOK is perfect. I just wish they did an in between screen size thats a bit cheaper!

If your requirements are portable and macOS then perhaps the 16" would be a better compromise. You might regret getting the 13" just to save money but of course if you don't have the extra $$$$ then you do what you have to do. The 16" is $2400 in the USA so that's not exactly cheap.

Thats the issue I am facing, the price. I’m still debating whether or not I can justify spending that much, or more so if I do spend that much utilise the macOS and specifications to its maximum potential.

I regret buying my 13” so I will advice buying the 16” model. The screen size is important but you will also get a better performance. Don’t worry about computer potential - better have overkill than something underrated. I mean that 13” will get older sooner and the 16” will last longer.

What is your anticipated usage? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see what apps you want to run.

The 13" is a great machine and at this point quite powerful, but it does lack the discrete GPU and it does have less cores. The 16" while more powerful has generated a number of complaints in the MacBook Pro Forum, including ghosting issues, and kernel panics. I'm not saying these are widespread, they may be, they may not, but I just wanted to point out the complaints.

If mobility is a major concern, then the 13" will definitely be a better option. I
