Buying advice

Hello everyone,

I am working on pc for more than 10 years and i am thinking to buy the Mac mini i5 dual-core 2.5GHz / 4 GB / 500GB/ HD4000 (MD387)

The reason i want to buy it is to replace my laptop, i have a laptop that it is more than 5-6 years old and i wonder if the mac mini late 2012 i5 is good choice for me.. (i use the laptop only when going to my other house and i dont have my desktop) of course i have second pair of mouse/keyboard/monitor because you need to have.

My question and my concern is that this would be my first mac (i don't have problem working on different OS because it my nature of work , computer science)

So what i do mainly develop(desktop application/web/graphics)/internet/watching movies and playing sometimes games.

So i wonder would this machine feet to my needs? Any one using it for the above and can spare his opinion so i could take the right choice,

I have a slightly older Mac Mini with 10gb of ram (which was a bargain) and it does me brilliantly. I did think that not having a laptop would be a hinderance on my day to day life but to be honest all it has meant is that I work better at the desk with a nice 21" display.

My only other concern was the lack of webcam (I use facetime and Skype a lot) but I again I just purchased a logitech webcam and it works with all my apps perfectly including Photobooth.

The mac mini is very small, there is no massive external power brick (just uses a standard 8 lead) so as long as you have a screen, keyboard and mouse at your other place the Mac Mini will be nice and portable for you.

As a side note: I have an iPad mini which i use on the sofa and bring with me to work. I suspect I wouldn't have the same opinion without it... something to consider.

The Mac Mini is more portable than you might think.

My little guy goes mobile with me on occasion, I just bring a 16" AOC USB monitor and a 15' cord - a simple set up for you when you go to your other house/wherever.

With a minimum of 8GB RAM you can run Parallels and have a Windows computer inside your MM if there are Windows based applications you need.

These Mac Minis are really great computers and I'm certain you would enjoy your investment in one.
