I‘ve been pricing Air Pods Max. Three options are Apple, Costco and Amazon. Apple with Apple Care is $645, Costco and Amazon are almost identical price $505. My question is are these the same Air Pod Max or are there different versions that Costco/Amazon are selling for @$150 less????

There’s no difference, APM have been on sale a few times this year from $100-150 off. Personally I wouldn’t buy Apple care for headphones but that’s your call.

Great Thank you. It’s rare to see Apple products priced so differently, at least that much different. I’ve had Apple Care on almost every Apple product I’ve purchased (Phone, IPad, Watch, TV, Air Pods Pro). It has come in handy quite a few times for me. One phone call, ticket created, device returned , then repaired or replaced. No cost. Of course it is personal preference but thank you again.

While I understand getting AppleCare+ for mobile devices, what's the concern about an Apple TV? Never once I thought about adding it to mine, and I've got 3 units.

I only added it to HomePods due to the reports of them failing, but not sure why would anyone want to add to an Apple TV.

I'll second this. I understand different strokes for different folks...but I've never had a need for AppleCare on TV products. I could see a case being made for Airpods...but I personally don't do AppleCare on those eithers. I keep it to just mobile devices and computers.

As for your question--no differences. I would buy from whoever has the best current pricing. It's also worth checking if Costco has any purchase warranty that they offer (or that is included at time of purchase).

The only other advice I would give is to look into other stands/cases. I love my AirPod Max's, but the only shortcoming is the "smart case". I instead found some cheap 3D printed stands on Etsy that I keep mine on around the house. It has magnets to put them into deep sleep mode, etc. too. Obviously these don't work for travelling, but they are much better than the Apple smart case for everyday use around the house.

I bought mine for $449 some time back. Not too long ago I saw them for something like $429. Unless you need them now I might wait a bit and keep an eye on prices. I too don't think I'd buy Apple Care with them. On a product priced like the Max I'd take my chances. Apple Care and product insurance are huge profit generators. With something like a Macbook that you're dragging all over, it may well be worth it for the peace of mind. My credit card provides some protection if a product fails and I don't really use the Max in harsh environments.
