Compusa has no interest for 18 months, can't pass it up. I am upgrading from an eMac. How loud are these guys? I have a small room and use my mac for music and my eMac is too loud. I never got applecare, but I want it on this one. Can it be extended for over a year? Any other general problems till i run out and get this thing?

edit:
Is the iMac ram available on newegg for when (not if) I want to upgrade?

i have had mine for about a month and its dead quiet..
Thank god. I dont know if you have ever encountered one of these beasts (an eMac), but god, they are loud. I compare the fan to my honda civic lol. Although the civic has a quiet motor, your computer shouldn't be as loud. I just can't stand my eMac anymore. The highest resolution is distored, it is loud, and it heats up my room, and you living in Arizona too (east valley like me) you know that has to suck. Do you have a wireless keyboard/mouse? I am thinking about eventually getting one, but I am curious about battery life.

I should imagine the iMac Core Duo has similar noise output to my MBP, which has nothing more than a mild hum. I have iTunes playing at a moderate level and can hear no noise. Certainly at work when we switch on the Macs and PCs in a near silent room, the Macs produce next to no sound, the PCs immediately spew out a fan speed burst and then dull down to a constant drone.
