Hi,

Simple quick question, please help! I am new to iMacs.

I am about to order one of the two options below, but I'm not sure which.

I will be using it for all the normal things, music, movies, but also a few games. Nothing absolutely major though, but games like StarCraft 2 and actually I'd like to try a few of the newer FPS games. (So maybe needs some power after all!)

Should I go for the 2.93 and upgrade to a GT 130? Or just keep that at 120.
Or should I just go for the most expensive/powerful model. I want it soon, so don't want the ATI card.

2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
640GB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB

OR ----------------------------------------

3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1.0TB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB

Final question, what's best, all wireless (keyboard AND mouse) or half wireless (wireless MOUSE only and wired keyboard for the USB ports)?

Thanks

Forgot to say I have a PS3 already and a 360. I do like PC games mind.

But, Im thinking to keep costs low, because Im no hardcore PC user, that I should go for the GT 120 and not upgrade it. So the second best iMac option on the store site.

Iv just ordered

3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1.0TB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB

From what i read it will kick ass!

That's exactly the one I plan to get. Was waiting for my tax return first. Personally, for my needs it seems like the better choice for what I'm going to use it for. I'm not sure what you'll be using for, but if price is an issue, then I'm sure the 2.93 is more than enough to handle your needs, especially if you're just going to use it for normal things. If not, then the 3.06 is quite the beast. I can't wait for mine.. :D

This'll be my first Mac too, so I am curious as well where as to go with peripherals. (wireless keyboard, mighty mouse vs. wired). Buying it from the Apple Store, so I don't think I can get the keyboard with the numeric keypad.

The GT 130 will be better for gaming than the GT 120, obviously. I went for the GT 120 because I'm not a gamer.

I don't expect there is an awful lot of difference in speed between the 2.93GHz and 3.06GHz. As far as hard drives go, it depends how much space you need - only you can make that decision.

I went completely wireless and I'm very pleased with it. I love the no wires look.

I also ordered:

3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1.0TB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB

Went for the wireless mouse and the wired keyboard as I didn't want to keep reaching round the back to plug usb's in.

Should be here next week.
