I'm starting this thread to gather all the information I can to try to get a new iMac 27" Quad Core i5 or i7 in the NYC region. This includes, buying from retail stores like Apple itself, Best Buy, Tekserve, JR, BHPhoto and many others. It also includes resellers on Ebay, UBid, Craigslist.

I invite people here in and around NYC to share their thoughts about this awesome new iMac and talk about their delivery dates and orders shipped and if they've acquired it using other ways to get it here in this region.

I hope this grows and helps.

really? its not hard to go buy a computer

just get it at an apple store ar bb or order online

Ohh well, I knew I'd be expecting comments like these. It's hard to buy an iMac 27" Quad Core. But in a few weeks, this will be stale mate.

NYC Apple Stores i5 Availability

Soho - no idea when
5th Ave - not interested in answering (as if they've picked up calls asking the same question all day long) - said no don't have it
14th St - said optimistically, might get it any time this weekend or earl next week. Said they get shipments everyday (no big surprise there), but they could get the quad cores any time now
B'Way - opening tomorrow I think

Not sure why it's hard (other than their not being available right now). BTW the i7s will never be available in-store...

I ordered an i7 from Apple on 11/4; no word on shipping yet. I haven't used any of the other stores besides J&R, where I bought my TV--somewhat reluctantly, but it's sale price was best then. I have two problems with J&R: one is the salesmen who work on commission (and do things like sell my dad some outrageously priced HDMI cable and push things you don't need)--although this is just an annoyance (but growing up working at as a proper clerk in Brooklyn, I also think it's the wrong way to run a store); the other is their draconian return policy--basically, you can't, as I recall...

Oh, I had a friend who worked at Tekserve when I was in highschool (pre-Apple stores). He broke something and was thereafter only allowed to work on printers, lol. And I think my physics teacher swore by them. But, again, that was the 90s (life here was good). :|

I'm in the NYC area and I definitely went online to order my 27" iMac i7. I went through an authorized reseller online and saved about $200 in taxes (even got some other discount) and with free shipping, it beats the pants off buying in-store.

It works out to be $140 cheaper on my EPP discount so it almost comes up to the same amount online but with a $50 shipping charge. So u save on TAX.

Manhasset - No
Staten Island - Nope - she took my email address so she can email me when Core i5s arrive. I dont think she will!!
Roosevelt Field - Not available no idea
Garden State Plaza - was closed
