Hi to all. Im a first time poster and am buying an iMac 20" on thursday!! and as you can guess the days are dragging by. Anyway........ ive only ever used vista and decided to make the switch, but i have a few questions that need answering to make things easier on my first experience with a mac.......

1) i currently use windows vista everyday, and just wondering if its a big change or will i be flowing through OS X within no time?

2) im also thinking, how do i transfer itunes(libery, album art, playlists), photo's etc? can i just burn a disk in windows and then import it to the mac? are the file formats different?

Also........ ive only got about half way through reading all the topic discussions and i became quite scared of getting an iMac and almost put off due to all the people with dead/stuck pixels etc, but i guess thats what forums are for, discussing your problems in search of help, and i suppose its just the minority of people that have these problems as with over electrical products. Any help would be greatly appriciated, and also if everybody could wish these last couple of days to go quicker it would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

If there is a problem with your machine just take it back to the apple store and they'll fix it. To transfer your files take your current machine to an apple store and they'll transfer the files over, no charge. Or you could use a network cable and network them together so you can save disks. All of your files (music, most documents, videos, etc) will be able to be read on a mac. Problems arise when you use a program with a proprietary format that does not exist on the mac. You won't be able to open those sort of files, but it's generally rare.

congratulations on your decision to get a mac. I switched from a vista pc to an iMac in July, and it's one of best decisions I've ever made .

I wouldn't say there is a massive difference between vista and the leopard os, but there is enough of a difference that some of simple things you could do on a pc, you wouldn't know how to do on a mac, & would ultimately lead to frustration. Do u have an apple store nearby? The is definetly the best advice I can give you to help you to switch. The apple stores do free introductory sessions to the leopard os and mac applications, where they teach you the basics and show you each application. This helped me so much making the transition to a mac. If you can't reach an apple store, then there are plenty of articles on the net about making the switch, and also some decent books available on this subject.

Let us know your thoughts once you get your new iMac !
