Hello, I'm about to buy my first iPhone.. a 3GS...
I used nokia almost all my life, and last december I received an iPod touch which changed my life. I also was a PC user...

Next month I'll buy my first iPhone 3GS, Macbook Pro 15" and iPad ..yes, I became a big Apple fan!!!

I'm counting days until my visit to App Store next month...

Now, I have a Question...
I've read all over the web rumors about new iPhone and new Macbook Pro line..
Should I wait until that happens? or Buy!!!

There will most certainly be a new iPhone later this year - they usually come out each June/July. However, it has yet to be determined if the upgrade will be more software rather than hardware and thus you could take advantage of the software with the 3GS. I know it is hard to wait, but other than possibly a higher grade camera, I am not sure there will be major upgrades to the hardware. I would get it now if you really want one.

I bought a 3Gs last night. What I do with all my phones is make sure that when I buy them I buy a case and screen protector and make sure I keep all the boxes and accessories(I usually keep all but the charger wrapped up new) and then when the next newest and greatest phone comes out that I want I sell my current phone. I can usually sell it as "like new" and get a nice amount for them. So thats what I'll do with my 3Gs if...when...a new one comes out this summer. So keep that tactic in mind.

Yes, I really want it bad!

In fact, I have my N97 with screen and case protector film (Invisible Shield)
I used to love my N97, but the interface and sloooooooooow system is very annoying.
So... Apple...I'll be there!!!

Thanks man! and thanks HSK

I would say to get the 3gs because it's fairly cheap. If you wait for the newest model, you will also be paying A LOT more.

Also, please don't get an iPad. It's stupid and a waste of money. Especially if you're going to get a Macbook and an iPhone. No offense but you would be a total idiot to also buy an iPad along with the Macbook and iPhone. The iPad doesn't even have multitasking, which makes it pointless. It's just an iPod Touch with a massively over sized screen. I'm kinda curious to which one of them was drunk over at Apple and said "Hey guys. I have an awesome idea. Let's make a new iPod touch!! Except let's not change anything. Let's just make the screen 4 times bigger and then charge 4 times the price!!" Oh and paying for a data plan on top of the data plan you'll be paying on your phone? Please... pure scam.

The iPhone "doesn't even have multitasking" either and yet you seem pretty happy suggesting that.

EDIT: Also, $600 is twice the price of $300, not four times.

You would be buying an iPhone for the phone purpose, along with the other features it gives. If you have an iPhone and a Macbook what could you possibly need an iPad for?

The iPhone 3gs is $199 for me here in Canada. And a decent iPad is about $800. Which equals 4 times the cost. Thanks for that math though, I would of never figured out $600 is twice the price of $300. You're a lifesaver!

The iPhone is $199 with a 2-year contract (actually isn't it a 3-year in Canada?). But the full price is $600. So the iPad is still cheaper.

Not really sure, I bought my iPhone from Rogers without a contract for $199.

Yeah, right.

1) Stupid post of the day
2) New iPhone in June/July will likely be the same price or cheaper than the current 3gs prices (prices don't usually fall during a product's life cycle in Apple land, so your best value is on release day)
3) iPad is not an iPhone is not a MacBoog is not an iPod Touch - different uses (as a mallet is not a hammer is not a sledgehammer). You may have overlap in functionality, but each has it's place if you need the tool

Yeah, right.

I actually did. I bought a previous iPhone on a 3 year contract and I broke it. I asked them what they could do... After a few weeks of calling/debating back and forth they decided to sell me the iPhone for $199.

You can believe what you want, it's not really like I care.

I'm waiting to see if they up the screen resolution. After using the Nexus One for a while I have to say the screen is really quite beautiful and could not imagine going back to the current iPhone screen (having a touch, its easy to compare the two).

Let's not turn this thread into an iPad hate thread.

Be patient, trust me it will pay off, I have a crappy flip phone right now and want the iphone 10 times as much as you want it,but I know for sure there will be a new one in June/July, I cant wait I'll be first in line :D.

Yeah, I'm waiting too, it's only about three months from now...
