Hi everyone,

Is it possible to buy an iPhone 3GS in the U.S. free of contract? For how much?

I am going there in a few weeks and I would like to buy one and unlock it and use it in my country.

Thanks for the answers.

I believe Apple will sell you an iPhone with no contract.

If it's a new 3GS with updated firmware , be aware you cannot currently unlock those phones (except by factory unlock which is not available for US phones)

Why not spend a few hundred more and get a factory unlocked one online so you dont have to worry about basebands, jailbreaking, firmware etc...

And where would I get a factory unlocked one?

Where are they being sold?
