Well, having owned the 2G iPhone (getting a contract in my parents name) which seems like forever ago I wanted to buy the iPhone 3GS.

Here is the problem, I was just speaking to my friend about it and he tried to buy his contact on his 18th birthday and he claimed that the salesman in the shop would not let him buy it because he wasn't counted as an 18 year old "until the day after" (He did not want to purchase an iPhone but another phone on contract)

I turn 18 tomorrow (or exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes as I write this) and just wanted to know what are the chances of getting rejected and looking like a fool when I go to purchase one at the store tomorrow morning at around Midday-ish.

The whole point of waiting till my 18th birthday was so I could get one in my own name otherwise I could have bought one on the release date and it's just so I don't have to fanny around with all the crap when I phone up and it's like bla bla you need the registered users name.

I live in the UK, and the provider is ofcourse O2.

Thanks! :)

Idk how they do it over there but here in the US your 18 on midnight, so you might be able to get it. Although, unless you have credit, be ready for a $500 deposit

I hope to hell I dont have to pay a security deposit, i'm pretty sure that i'll only have to pay the £89 for the Phone. I hope I have credit i've had a job for 2 years and a savings account with like £7000 for university.

Here in america that does not equal credit. You have to have a credit card for at least a year to build sufficient credit, if it works like that over there then you will have to pay a hefty deposit. You will get it back in a year though if you pay your bills on time. Welcome to the real world:)

Oh that's interesting, I'm well accustomed to the world. :)

I'm just relating to what my friends and such have told me from their experiences of buying phones/iPhones in general.

I mean the debit card that i'm going to use to purchase i've had since I was like what, 14, so hopefully fingers crossed ill be in there for 15 minutes at the most and only have to pay the £89. :)

Debit cards dont equal credit either lol, i hope you dont have to pay the deposit either but you might. You can always have your parents co-sign that way it will still be under your name but you wont have to pay a deposit.
