If I purchase a Macbook from Amazon can I still get it exchanged at a local Apple Store if there is a defect?

I don't see why not. The warranty is going to be from apple, and not through amazon.com so if the repair justifies a replacement...i'm sure they would.

If you want to exchange it, take it up with amazon. Good luck getting the apple store to exchange anything without hassle/money. If it is defective/doa, again, take it up with amazon, they will replace the thing, apple on the other hand will try their best to fix the thing before giving you a replacement.
