im about to buy an imac. im using a dodgy laptop at the moment and really want something good. there is a few things i need to know first though.

  • is the 24" high def quality?
  • i hav a pctv tuner for windows... if i load windows onto the imac will it work?
  • can you load dvd movies onto the mac?
  • is 2gb of ram acceptable? im going to be using photoshop and stuff like that.

thanks :D

26" iMac

If your wanting an iMac buy the 24" 3.06GHz refurbished unit and save a few hundred bucks. I have a new one and love it but if I was going to buy today I'd buy the refurb and save a little money.

On the other hand, I used the student discount and got an iPod Touch for my son which sells for 299.00.

In the end it is kind of a wash for us....

1) Yes, it has enough resolution to do any HDTV resolution, including 1080p (it's 1920x1200).

2) Yes, assuming you're talking about a USB device and not an internal PCI card or something.

3) Yes. Handbrake is the most popular program for doing this.

4) Probably fine.

what he means is that he useda student discount on a new imac and also took advantage of buy mac get free ipod deal as well.

PCTV w/Windows loaded? Most likely
Load DVD movies? Yes
2GB ram enough? In most cases yes. If you are going to run Windows in a VM get 4GB.
