Hey, folks,

I'd like to buy his and hers matching iPhone for a couple for Christmas, but obviously I don't want to pick their plan for them. Short of buying a gift card for them, which is just not fun to open on Christmas morning, is there any way to buy iPhones as a gift?

Any ideas or advice?

Thanks!

John

When I bought my father an iPhone for his birthday I went to the Apple Store, got the gift card for the appropriate amount to pay for the iPhone, then put it in my iPhone box and wrapped it. I included a note that explained where there wasn't an iPhone in the box. (Then I took the box back and took him to the Apple Store to buy his iPhone).

That was the best idea I could come up with.

Thanks, all!

Alas, a card just isn't all that much fun to play with on Christmas morning, so I think I'll go another direction. But I sincerely appreciate the help.

because of the diversity in carrier availability in Canada here we can buy it outright and then choose a network to sign up on. if you were in canada taht would be your best bet. But it sounds like you are not so best of luck to you.

You can always try to talk to AT&T about setting something up like a very basic plan that they can change after christmas, or something.
