Found a 5,1 2010 mp 2.8 quad with 8 gb ram, 1.5 hdd/5770. No box. $800
Good deal or no?
Great price, honestly. A little too low, if you ask me. For sure check out the machine before you purchase, as always. However, I picked up a 3,1 for $200 with all peripherals, so it might just be a lucky listing.
Where did you pick up one for $200? I can hardly find a 1,1 for $350.

Anyone care to chime in on this deal:
2008 Mac Pro 3,1
2.8ghz 8 Core
16GB RAM
500gb HD
Nvidia GT 120
$700
I've been toying with the idea of building a Hackintosh, but it seems like there is a pretty steep learning curve on how to get it setup and doing things over and over again with each update from Apple. However, a Hackintosh build would be significantly faster with futureproof parts.
Thoughts?

You should post these topics in The Buying Advice Forums but basically, nobody here is going to recommend you purchase a 3,1 as the 4,1 and 5,1 outperform it and are significantly easier and cheaper to upgrade and maintain. The 3,1 has about 3-5 years of life on it, in my opinion. It would depend on what you need the machine for, but for $700, that's about a fair price for that machine, especially with 16GB of RAM.
New Mac Pro isn't worth it. At 3k with almost zero expansion I'd rather get a hackintosh using a Fractal R4 case, pay 1/3 the price and get better performance with a Core i7 4770K processor.

Thanks, ideally I'd like to spend around 1k on a desktop, I'll have to shop around.
