buying MS Office vX on Ebay?

I'm considering switching and buying a new 12"PB this summer. If I buy one I'll need to get the Mac version of MS Office. I noticed that the discounted version of MS Office vX is no longer available from Apple. Now they want $499 for it.

I was looking at eBay and noticed that some sellers are offering it new and unopened for about $250 or so. Other then the risk of getting ripped-off by a con artist, is there any reason to fear buying a new, unopened copy of MS Office off of eBay? Is there some catch that I'm missing. Some appear to be the full versions of the office suite - not just upgrade versions. Now that the promo is over, buying office online for almost 50% off sounds like a deal that is too good to be true. Any comments or advice? Thank you.

if you act fast, many retailers still offer the promotion, i noticed one on powermax.com. Also, if you are a student, or know a student, you can get it for $200 with student discount.

As for ebay, check their feedback, not just the number of positives, but what they sold before. Some people got their good feedback accounts stolen and used their names for scams. If they sold other copies of Office v.X email the person who bought one and ask them if it was good.

I have not been burned yet on ebay, but have bought less than a couple dozen things, so it still could happen, but I am being careful. Good luck.

BTW. if this is legit, they probably bought the copies at the discounted price and are selling it for a slight profit.

Get it from MegaMacs for $238

Why do u wanna get it from eBay if you can get it from online dealers. Megamacs has it for $238.
Also, DIGICOMP offers Microsoft Office v.X with a Kingston 512MB PC2700 DIMM for $293.95.
