iPad Pro Buying my first tablet ever

Hi all, I was in the market for an iPad. Was going in between iPad Mini and Air... but then on craigslist - I have a chance to buy the latest ipad pro 11" 64GB for $500.

Is there such thing as fake ipads? This particular one is still sealed and the serial number brings up "Purchase Date not Validated" on the Apple Care coverage site.

Is it to risky? Could the serial number be actually black listed and I'll only find out once I open the seal?

Or am I being too paranoid

Plenty of Android-based iPad clones but no fake iPads I'm aware of.

I think the message is because it hasn't been activated yet. Of course, iPad could've been stolen, too.

Yes there is, and even if the device is not currently black listed, there is the possibility that it might be in the future. Be careful.

Problem with Craigslist is you pay cash. It could very well be valid (e.g. unwanted gift) but you're pretty much out of $500 pocket if something goes wrong.
