I'm looking to purchase a new video iPod and am looking for any suggestions being that I'm indecisive about which one to get. I like the looks of both the white and the black, but I'm wondering if the black is going to show more scratches and defects after time. I'm also trying to decide if the 30GB is going to be big enough, or if I should shell out the extra $100 to double the size. I realize these are brand new, and very few people have actually seen one in person, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

How big is your iTunes music library?
Mine is only 6.52 GB, but I still ordered the 60 gig. I like to backup some of my computer files onto the iPod, and I might put lots of videos on it, if it works well.
If you have a small music library and you're not too concerned about adding lots more in the future, the 30 gig is ok. It is thinner too.
Next, white or black? Do you have any other Apple products that make you care about matching, with the white? If you really love the black, you should go for it. The white is the signature Apple iPod color, and in person, it looks very cool too. It should show less scratches. However, get the one you really want.

The 60GB iPod is a bit heavier and bulkier than the 30GB one. Plus, although the iPod is a good way to back things up, they're not known for their reliability (well, certainly not the hard drive based ones) so don't have it as the only form of back up. As for colour, I'm a traditionalist and have always preferred the white.

I ordered the white 60 GB yesterday.
60GB because my music library is 21 Gig and growing. I am also going to add photos where my library is 17 Gig for now, so definately 60 GB.
I chose the white because I wanted the remote with a new dock, wich is white, I think the black ipod in the white dock just looks weird, especially since its going to be hooked up to my stereo in the living room in full sight for everyone to see. (Yes I am all about detail)
And as somebody put on MR: White is the new black anyways.

If it is anything like the nano I would say go with the white.. Not so much as it is cooler or anything, just that the black ones sold out so quick they were on backorder.. According to apples site both are shipping within 5-7 days but I see the white coming quicker.
