its £200, it after trying it on I think I can swallow it as it will never break randomly like a 3rd party band and it was perfect. Am I silly for forking out this much though?

Well it could be 200 put towards an SE which I plan on doing anyway, but I do love the band :/ I will mean a lot of saving as I'm only a student lol
FYI: My first Apple watch was purchased with the Milanese Loop. I had to exchange it for the stainless link because the magnetic clasp kept slipping and so the watch became loose on my wrist. Haven't had any issues with the link.

There are third party milanese loops for 10£. For example Amazon sells them and they have good reviews from users.
I had the knockoff but recently bought an open box Apple milanese for $62 on eBay from a seller I bought a blue sport strap from. Quite happy with it as it still has the plastic on the magnetic tab.
Actually the knockoff I have is really good. That being said the fakes have a reputation of separating at the magnet. I really wanted the original so when I found a deal on one I went for it.
I'm actually getting a student discount on the band, and a work discount on the Apple Watch so the band is only costing me around 180 which I'm happy with

Happy with the discount, and I've also found that it's a great deal versus buying the series 2 with Milanese Loop.My total is around 470, 500 without discount.
That gets me a Space Grey Sport that both I and the Apple salesmen thought looked better that the Space Black Stainless steel and was less prone to scratching, 2 bands instead of one (the black sport band included then buying the Milanese Loop Black).
Buying the Apple Watch with that pre configured with a GPS and SS instead of Aluminium costs 750!
So I'm saving 300 quid going for this setup which I prefer, and I'm getting an extra 50 quid sports band for free with the Watch.
Adding all that up made it sound like a great deal and I'm willing to spend that on the Milanese Loop as it looked and felt amazing in Store
I am also thinking about another band additional to sports band. Typically I wear metal bands. So Milanese could be an affordable choice. 500 for the steel is way too much.

Agreed, spending 300+ on an Apple Watch and only spending a tenner on a dodgy band that could break and cause damage to the watch is just silly. After trying the Milanese loop at the Apple Store, I'm sold!
The Moko loop is excellent and it's the only knock-off strap I've bought, been impressed with, and kept.
I've decided I don't want to buy a 300+ pound watch to then trust a 10 pound strap on holding it. I just can't trust the longativity of something that mustn't have the same level of quality control. Its a lot of money, but after trying it at an apple store Im willing to spend the money

Fair point. Buy one from CEX, think they are £70 currently on there and you can easily check if it's fake.
I'm not one for buying second hand, if I want something that bad I want it to be mines and look after it haha I was actually in CEX and they had a first gen 38mm Apple Watch grade B more expensive than buying new from Argos!
So, with all due respect, if you don't trust a knock-off and you don't want second-hand genuine item, then this thread was a bit pointless?
If it were not for the matter of time... I was originally unsure if it was, as the title states, silly getting the real McCoy or not. I have came to the decision since then that it is, and spending 400 pounds on a watch to cheapen out on the strap with an unknown brand is silly.
I don't think it is silly for that band. There are much more expensive bands from other Watch manufacturers.
So this price is ok for a high quality band.
