Buying UK through Education store = 3y apple care?

I'm in the USA just debating how much the price difference will be. One things for sure, buying an offical UK plug is £10 on top of the ipad price. This could sway me to wait though:

I know there is no edu ipad but I know buying from the store automatically gets you 3y free AppleCare. Would this Apply to the ipad if you can but it through the store? This would sway me getting a UK one as the cost of 3y apple care outdoes any price difference.

Any advice? Sure is tempting to get one after holding it! I'm not bothered about being the first, just price. Thanks!

Its not 3yr Apple Care its a 3yr warranty which doesn't offer as much as Apple Care. Still good enough though.

It only applies to Desktops and Laptops, so it won't cover the iPad.

Ok, let me clear a few things up:

• There is no such thing as 3 year AppleCare for iPad; it's only 2 years maximum
• The 3 year service from the UK Higher (Universities only) Education Store is warranty only, not AppleCare
• The 3 year warranty only applies notebooks and computers. It does not apply to anything outside that class

I am a UK uni student in Newcastle, so have the rare perk of having an Apple store (a brand spanking new one at that) local to me.

Hopefully this will apply to store purchases also (the 3 year warranty thing for higher edu customers). If not will pursue this online no doubt

P.S - yeah also aggrieved that there is no edu discount on the iPad, but will suspend my complaints until after the official price is (eventually) announced.

You can indeed use it in store. It just takes an absolute age, because the manager has to manually work out the price (14% discount) and then authorise it. You need to have both your physical student ID (the card) and also a paper form of student ID (something like maybe a UCAS form or proof of enrolment from the university).
