Buying US iPad and shipping to Australia?

Hi,

I live in Australia and want to buy an iPad, I don't want to wait until late April though, if I buy an iPad on April 3rd in the states and get it shipped to Australia will it work fine? Is there any difference between the US model and the Australian model? It'll be WiFi 16GB.

I imagine the "power cord" will be for an american power point, so I'd have to do something about that, but that's all I can think of.
Will it still be under warranty when it leaves the country?

Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the iPad itself is "universal," other than the supplied power cable and power supply adapter, which are fairly inexpensive. Warranty is worldwide so you should be good there too.

Why would you ship it though rather than take it back with you... or is someone else buying this for you?

Power cable will work fine.

I'd just wait though, only a couple of weeks more - that's nothing. At least wait until pricing is announced, then you'll know if it's worth it financially.

I read somewhere that some bloke is flying to NY and buying a bunch for those that request it. He is taking requests I believe. He is the editor of MacTalk Australia. Here is a link to his forum post on their site.

If you have a iPod/iphone charger the clip on bit that goes in the power socket in Australia should fit on the new charger.

Though it's less that a Month difference, so why not wait (see what problems people are having first.)

I pre order my unit from Spain (16gb wifi) to my family there, I changed my apple account details so that I wrote their address. when they get it they will send it to me.

apple charged my spanish debit card right away. i am sure it will work over 220 system that we use here, the say way iphone and MBA do.
