Hello all,

A co-worker is upgrading to a shiny new MBP and they're making me a very good deal on their old MBP - one I can't refuse. They bought AppleCare with the old MBP and I was curious if that needs to be transfered to me somehow, or if it's tied to the specific hardware regardless of who has possession?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks!
Jacob

Once registered, the policy cannot be transferred to a different machine. However, the policy can be transferred to another owner by writing to Apple. Try reading the fine prints.

Clarification

Just to clarify - they will get a new AppleCare policy with their new MBP - I was just curious if I had to do anything to transfer the used MBP w/ AppleCare I'm going to get from their name to mine.

Thanks!
Jacob

You have to write a letter to Apple to transfer the plan to your possession. It is in the AppleCare print somewhere.
