Right, so i just got new macbook, and am looking to get Windows 7 for it. As i understand there are no upgrade editions in the EU. Therefore they are offering E editions which are full versions minus IE. Does that mean i can take advantage of the pre order deal of 49.99 even though i dont have a Windows copy on my Mac as it will just be the full version.

I believe that from the 15th we can preorder Home Premium (full) for £49.99 in the UK (other parts of Europe possibly use different dates) for a short period. It will be the full version but without IE.

I have XP already but having sniffed around I am certain this won't be needed in Europe. The £49.99 will be for a complete retail standalone version without IE.

Thanks is really quite an excellent deal. Gotta love the Eu sometimes!

The Pro version will be getting it too, I think it's £99.99 or thereabouts for that one but possibly less. The Ultimate version won't be part of the deal.

From what I understand big retailers such as Amazon will be the ones allowing the preorders, though I'm sure the mainstream news sites will run stories on it once the time comes. Just remember to check on the 15th :)

I'm going for Amazon personally as I'm lazy and it seems certain they'll be involved; their US arm is participating in the US offer.
