My boss is buying me a PowerBook as a bonus (yay! I finally get to make the switch!), and I'm a student, so I want him to be able to get the student discount. The laptop will be shipped to me, but he's the one buying it, etc. I assume he'll be paying for it online. How can he get my student discount when buying this laptop?

(oh yeah.. and should I wait for the Intel PBs? :p)

Use your discount through the online store to get a quote, have him cut you a check, and you order it.

That's the most legitimate way for him to buy you a laptop using your student discount. Anything else is somewhere between the gray area and an abuse of the situation.

WOW - what a great job/boss you have ! ! ! Congrats!

Heh, yeah. I did a lot of extra work for him (and brought in about 7 new people to the company), so he promised to get me a laptop for school. I'm stoked. I've been waiting literally years to be able to have a mac again (about 7, to be exact) after my parents switched to PC. Last year my mom went back to mac with the 12" iBook I'm typing this from now! This will be my first laptop. :)

I guess we will see how this works out. I wrote him an email with the options. :)
