Hello,
At the moment I am using a pair of m-audio AV30 wich are ok but not that great and I want to get some better speakers to use with the Mac Pro and my native instrument Maschine.
I found a pair of m-audio BX5A Deluxe at 269.00$ and they seem pretty good.
From what I understand this are bi-amped speakers so I believe they have to be turned on individually and they have also to be individually plugged in into an outlet.
I have no idea if this can actually be used for desktop speakers=/ I believe I have to use the TRS connection and will need a cable like this in order to plug them in directly to the Mac pro?

If anyone here knows about monitor speakers and how they will work with a desktop help out=)
I just don't know if I will run into problems using them for desktop speakers

I saw few pics online of an imac using this speakers but looks like he has an external sound card and at the moment I can't afford both=)

I wouldn't be an complete expert on this, but that cable looks correct.

Never, ever buy anything from Monster though. Try monoprice.

That cable will do ok. About the brand, its a personal preference: just make sure they do not hum or leak any noise when you receive them - couldn't find a monoprice equivalent.

I use the BX5a with my Mac Pro, right out of the built-in line-out... I just grabbed this cheap cable from a local guitarcenter: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Live-Wire-3-5M--TRS--Dual-1-4---Y-Cable-100267558-i1169103.gc. I think I paid like $10 about a year ago.

I use them for non-critical listening... they do the job and will sound much better than your AV30's (I owned a pair of av40's a while ago). When it comes to audio, it's all relative... depends on what you're coming from and what your expectations are.
