If your purchase was direct from apple online no.

yes if you purchased from best buy amazon etc.

put the ram in and boot. first all internet connections must be disconnected . turn off your wires less router or unplug the mini from the cat 5 wire. follow prompts.

it will try to connect to the net via wireless. it will ask you if you want to connect to a wireless if it finds one but on the bottom left pick other options.

it then will read a few choices one is my computer does not connect to net.

pick that it will then ask you to set up a name pick mac mini pick a simple password uncheck the box that reads must use password to start. it will asks you to register leave blank and continue just continue don't migrate from another computer it will then say your computer is ready to use. then connect it to the net. it will work and not be registered.

as for microsoft office maybe some else can help

thats okay I added more info above. you will get to go on the net.

I am not sure about installing office do you have a cd/dvd?

I realize you don't have a built in dvd/cd on the new mini.

you bring up a good question. about install of software. if you buy the software from apple they will not let you down load to an unregistered mac. if you buy from other sellers you can download.

I downloaded VMfusion from their website. but anytime I download from apple they ask for account and then match to your computer.

Just do a command-Q when asked for info during the initial setup. It will tell you that you can run the registration wizard later.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I believe you can do setup as normal and install all the software. Then reinstall OSX without formatting the drive. I think this will keep all the applications and reset the Mac Mini setup. Not sure this method works any more but it's worth a try.

On the reg. prompt just press Cmd+Q and it will skip it. It then adds a reg. icon in the home directory so you can reg it later
