I'm a dock hater. I don't like docks. I am a laptop user, docks are inconvenient for those of us who don't have a permanent work surface.

But by watching the keynote, it looks like the iPhone comes with a dock.

Will the iPhone charge through the dock while connected to your computer or will it need a 2nd power cable connected to the dock which charges the iPhone?

Will there be a way to purchase a standard cable to just hook up the iPhone to the computer without using the dock? I travel a lot and I rather carry a cable in a bag than a cradle. That way I can pull out the cable and charge or sync the iPhone anywhere I'm at without having to find a place to set the cradle.

I know this sounds whiny but when you are on the move, cradles, in my opinion, are inconvenient.

I wish contacts would sync via bluetooth and you just connect it to sync with iTunes... But I don't think that's the case.

I'm pretty sure that (based on the MacWorld keynote in January) the iPhone has a regular iPod connector on the button, meaning that your iPod connector (to usb) would work fine with the iPhone too.

Thanks. Believe it or not I'm still using the original 5 gig iPod so I wasn't quite sure what the options were.
