iPhone Bypassing "Verifying iPhone update with Apple"

I've been trying to restore my phone for over an hour. Every time it tries to verify, it says the server could not be contacted (because of all the unusually high traffic, right?) Is there any way to bypass this verification?

Cyida is getting slammed to the point of uselessness right now (I've been trying to download a 126kb tweak for 1/2 hour), so just wait it out.

Something is blocking the communication with Apples servers.
Either a firewall, antivirus or something.
Or maybe your hosts file dont point to Apple.
