Hi I just recently started my first programming class and we are learning C++ my teacher is using visual studio (I think that's the name) but I was wondering if I could just use xcode to do C++. Also would it be easy to create windows apps and console apps? or would I just be better off grabbing my xp disc installing it under boot camp and getting visual studio cheap(free?) from school?

You can create ISO-standard C++ applications with Xcode but you can't build Windows or DOS-specific applications with it.

If your instructor decides to use non-standard extensions like console I/O (conio) or wants you to create Windows applications of any kind, then you're better off with MS Visual Studio running on Windows.
