Hi guys, Im currently considering a 21.5 high end or a 27 low end imac. Mainly gonna use my computer for anime and gaming, but for gaming, Im wondering if C2D would be okay to play future games like starcraft 2 or diablo 3. I hear the current specs work fine with valve games. I like the look of the ATI 4670 card but does that complement well with the processor?

To be quite honest, unless you're encoding video all day long, it'll take years before those high-end core2duos start to show their age.

I had a 3.06 24" iMac with internal SSD drive (boot) for about a year... and it was awesome... but it just didn't have the guts to hit the games at full screen res (res of the display) at anything remotely playable... even WOW with all settings on high and the monitor's resolution was giving me under 20fps...

Now, of course, I'm maxxed at resolution, settings, and still can't get under 200FPS most places indoors, 100FPS outdoors :->

Again, do you really think the cpu is the problem, you cant have a hexa core cpu, and have a 5 year old gpu and accept to play games at highest res. I mean people are so narrow minded its stupid.

And whats the point of 100 or even 200 fps, when the human eye cant notice the difference

I highly doubt a wolfdale would be the bottleneck for a game such as wow. Could probably just overmaxing the available bandwidth for whatever gpu your computer had, by using too much anti-aliasing or too high a texture mapping.

Is ATI 4670 card good enough to play the likes of TF2, HL2, Starcraft 2?

It won't max out starcraft2 at native resolution, no. But it will run starcraft 2 if you run everything high and put shaders to medium.

I really like the 3,06 ghz C2D , too. Very fast chip. I agree with what's posted above: C2D won't show its age for years.

Since I don't encode video that much, Im fine with the Core 2 Duo.

doubt you'd be doing much gaming on the 4670 card and high resolutions, but good luck.
