I just ordered my C2D MBP tuesday, but I'm wondering, do we have to wait for a bootcamp update to use it? Wasn't that the case with the iMac & MacPro?

You'll probably have to wait for Apple to write drivers for it (perhaps not, as they can use most of the older drivers for the graphics card and such).

FWIW, I just checked Apple's site and it still lists the MacBook Pro, so maybe you don't have to wait.

Which MBP did you get? The 2.16 Ghz one by any chance? If so, can you report on what the clockspeeds are of the X1600 in it, and also try and run 3DMark05 and 06?

Yes I got the 2.16. What tool gives you the clock speed. Also I dont have 3dmark05 so I cant give you the score.

Dualboot Loss Apple Preferences

I got the new 2.33 core 2 duo and for some reason I'm running into a lot of problems with the whole bootcamp crap. I need only one program from Windows so I would love for this to work. Here are some of the problems I have ran into...

1. I will personalize OSX and then once I turn it off and then back on all of my settings are lost. It goes back to the default. All of my programs are still in Applications but everything else is lost... Even files on my desktop.

2. Windows will restart randomly with the blue screen of death.. Starts back up like nothing.

(It also will keep all of my preferences and files)

3. I installed all of the given drivers, but for some reason I can't find the wireless driver. I don't know if I could. I am able to plug in a LAN line though.

4. It feels a little laggy at times, something I wouldn't expect from a C2D MBP

Any help would really be appreciated.. Thanks

ATITool should give you the clockspeeds:

http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/

I think some people here have reported downloading beta 14 and being successful with that.

3DMark05 can be downloaded from here:

http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark05/

There are a number of mirrors; I'd recommend Guru of 3D, personally.

I will also send you a private link to 3DMark06, since that is harder to find a good mirror that is fast of.

FWIW you will have to wait for a new bootcamp to get everything working.

the reason why wireless wont work is that the current driver is written for Atheros' POS wireless card, while the new MBPs use new D-Link wireless cards.

hope this helped

The MacBook Pros do NOT use a D-link card. It uses the same Atheros chip that D-link uses on 1 of their cards which is why the Dlink dribver works.

Apple has released a new version of Bootcamp (1.1.2) that contains the wireless card driver. If you still want to use the Dlink one, you cant run the setup. You have to go into the device manager and update the drivers from there.

I tried to install the drivers.. but it seemed not work.. Do you have a link to the download? Thanks so much

Thanks so much.. Do you know how to save your preferences on mac so you can reload them? I want to make all these preference changes to like my safari and so forth.. But I don't want to do them if my preferences have a chance of being lost.. Thanks much

Confirmed everything works on windows with the new c2d mbp with Bootcamp 1.1.2 including complete wireless and iSight support. The only problem is that the wireless signal is always crap. If I get full signal strength in OSX then I get maybe 2 to 3 bars in windows. I don't know if that's a problem with windows or the new wireless card they put in. But since it doesn't seem to be affecting the internet speed at all I'm just going to ignore it.

EDIT: Refering to the post above with 1.1.2 No personilaztions were lost for me, I haven't gotten the blue screen even once and it isn't laggy at all. Windows is running on this mac damn well better than any "pc" ever ran it.

I have everything working except for audio. Does you audio driver work? What driver is your installation using?

I have the same thing....

Boot Camp 1.1.2, XP SP2

No audio working. I have unknown "PCI Device" under hardware. This must be the audio chip. Anyone who knows what drivers to use for this?

I just fixed this,

by letting Windows connect to the internet and search for updated drivers itself!

(First time that has ever worked for me btw)

I have a 2.33 C2D and sometimes it hangs at the OS selection screen. It's only done it twice, and i had a laptop cooler plugged into USB that also has a usb hub with my mouse plugged into it...

I guess it can be a problem? cause after i clicked with my mouse on WIndows..
it hangs and there no longer is power to the hub (my optical mouse LED is off as well as the hub LED). trackpad has no response.

other than that everything works just fine. I play F.E.A.R. with medium settings at full resolution.
