Have any of you noticed the quality of all cables and connector's have gone down hill the last 2 -3 years? I have replaced several Apple lightning cables and my USB-C cable for charging my MBA is dead already. (Real Apple not 3rd party.) And I have had 3 Monster Cable 4K cables stop transmitting signal. And other wires, patch cables. It used to be you connect something and the cable might come loose but not fail so quick. Just wondering if anyone else has experience like this. Or does my luck suck?

I tend to buy what I consider well made and well priced. Never spent more £10 for a certified 4k cable and the cheapest at around £3.50 (certified) are still in service (really is no point paying over the odds for 4k to a TV). Anker cables are my got at the moment for apple C to whatever and some of the recent C to USB3 I use for my hard drives etc. are rebadged something or another don't care they work and well made. I don't expect them to fail.
Never really rated apple cables.

Have you been able to diagnose which cable component has failed - which connector, cable itself? I have only one Apple cable fail over a lot of years. Looking at it I could see where the casing was broken and the internal wires were shorting. I haven't had any problems otherwise.

All of my lightning cables have failed at the end that goes into the device.
The cable turns sort of yellowish-brown and soon after the insulation come apart.
Has happened on magsafe cable also. But I have only needed two of those over the past 10 years
