Hi, I just had a call from a friend who has recently got a g5 imac, but is still running Panther, and is trying to connect to the cable connection that her housemate has set up.

She is being asked for a "DHCP Client ID". I told her I think this is a password that needs to be gotten from her ISP, but I'm just really looking for confirmation of that...

Thanks in advance for the advice!!

Open up internet connect and use that app to connect to the internet. You should really only need user-name and password. Just mess around with that app and see what happens.

Found this:

Just whatever you do, don't use the CD that came with your isp. I got one from telstra and spent hours with no success. Then I just used internet connect. PS, The network pane in system preferences might be of some help too.
