This looks really interesting, allows you to look at solidworkds models and drawings on your iphone or touch. It's early days but this could go the way of gogle docs so in theory CAD on the iphone could be a possibility (OK small screen but if you want to work on a design away from the office then this could be it)

It's Here!!

Fresh Design Base Ltd. have just released a legitimate CAD application on the iPhone! It's called SitePAD. Check it out on the App store or at www.sitepad.co.uk. Its a work in progress but definately hitting the right buttons!

can I ask why? whats the point?

on a screen so small its pretty useless in my opinion

Linux on PS3
Windows on any Apple computer
Fart apps on the iPhone
More than 4GB storage for a phone
Health Care Reform

There's a lot of things that a lot of people think are pretty useless....yet they still get used. Go figure.

The only things on that list I see as pointless are #2 & #3. Considering my org played a major role in the passage of the HCR Bills it would be a bit silly for me to consider them useless :)

SitePAD

SitePAD is aimed at those people who record information i.e. survey, who untill now have had to use pen and paper, then make their way back to the office where they set about RE-DRAWING their sketches on their desktop CAD app. It is also useful to people for whom a full blown desktop solution is not cost effective.
The iPhone/iTouch/iPad + SitePAD combination allows them to record that information in a CAD format while on site.
Yes the screen size is small, but the drawing canvass is pretty much infinite and using pan and zoom the user is able to take advantage of that. By drawing in the CAD format from the outset, there are many advantages. Primarily, no time is wasted re-drawing anything. Using the cellular networks, the files can be sent to the office in real time for a colleague to continue working on. Indeed, no additional time is wasted in that colleague trying to interpret someones hand drawn sketches.
The screen is small, but the software will work on the iPad (theres a native version coming soon). SitePAD isnt trying to replace desktop CAD applications, but it does extend your office / CAD capabilities, allowing simple CAD drawing remotely.

I'm sure AT&T thanks you for the extra $1 Billion they have to pay because of the new health care bill.
