The iPad Calc looked interesting. Ineed, it was almost the only thing that looked interesting at all. All the AI stuff I have a “yea… right” expectations especially since so much is linked to voice and that doesn’t work for me.

Is it possible to turn all the scientific stuff off and use it as a basic calculator while remaining in landscape?
Yes, there’s a little calculator button in the lower left of the keyboard. Select that and you get a menu offering you basic, scientific and math notes modes.

it is quite a nice calculator app. I’m using it to see what math I can manage with my Pencil. I would like to be able to do matrices, differential equations, binomial distributions & stats even though I’ve got no need to do so. Just because, althoughnI did take stats in college/university years ago and I bought a physical Ti-68 just so I could graph.
