Calendar appointments disappear

Hi

I just tried to create an appointment to my iCloud calendar for August 2018 (I need an event reference point) and it appears but then disappears. I tried another date, another month (back-dated) and it’s the same.

Is there a reason I cannot create back-dated appointments or is this a bug?

iPhone X running latest software.

i wonder if the setting in iOS Settings/Calendar/Sync is set to something like something less than 6 months...
