So on my macbook pro I have a "work" and a "play" calendar but these do not show up on MobileMe.

If I make a calendar in MobileMe that shows up on my desktop, is that the only one i can use for syncing with MM and my iphone etc.

Thanks

Did you set your calendar on your Mac to sync to Mobile Me. Anything I do on my desktop calendar goes to MM and visa versa.

You have to set up MM sync under System Preferences on your laptop. You can either merge or replace info on your MM cloud. Then set up sync on phone with your MM account. When you sync your iPhone with itune on your computer DESELECT SYNC CALENDER in iTunes. Otherwise you will end up with duplicates.

Yes, in my system preferences, calendars are set to sync with MM. but in MM the calendars that I have on my mac desktop do not show up there.

On my desktop the MM calendars show below my regular calendars, but in MM the desktop cal's are not shown, so its no wonder they are not syncing. How do I get my desktop cal's to show up in MM?

Do a manual sync (iCal only) with desktop and MM...you can replace MM with your desktop information (there is a tab at bottom of manual synch screen which gives you option to replace info on MM, i.e. an upload from your computer). I'm not at home on my Mac so I am a bit fuzzy on the details.

Also the MM calendar and the desktop need to have the same name, otherwise they will just copy each other over as separate calendars. Also, within iCal check your preferences to be sure it is set to synch and then in the MM synch preferences check to make sure calendar is selected there too.

iCal natively syncs the events in your calendar to the events "On your mac". This is not the same events as your Mobileme events. Make sure you have configured the calendar sync in the Mobileme preferences. If so then you should be fine. Like mentioned DO NOT sync your calendars using iTunes. You will end up with a mess on your hands.

Sorry guys, I must be stupid, I still don't get it.

If I add calendars in MM they appear in iCal as separate, independent visible calendars. if I use these MM calendars then this is immediately synced. But my mac desktop calenders do not appear in MM. Any events I enter onto my mac Desktop calendar don't get synced anywhere on MM, so therefore do not reach my Pad or Phone:confused:

Are the calendars on MM and on your Mac the exact same name? Under prefs in iCal do you have your MM account added?

Before the MM Calendar update, MM used to sync local calendars to the cloud. When they updated MM Calendar they changed it so that MM became a CalDev server and now calendar need to be stored there.

In iCal, look at the left sidebar. You should see On My Mac and also your MM name. You should move all calendars so they are under the MM heading not the On My Mac heading.

Yes they are the same name.

On My Mac; Home Work
On MM; Home Work

Only items placed on the MM calendars will sync, if I log into MM it does not show my On My Mac Calendars.

Yes, iCal preferences set to sync
yes MM preferences checked to sync calendars.

All i want to do, is an add item to my desktop calendar called "work" and have it sync with the MM calendar called "work" I'm beginning to think it cannot be done:confused:

The only calendar I use is the MM one. When I open iCal I see "my user name" @ me.com (well I have my gmail cal there too but that isn't important) and I only use that cal. I deleted the local "on my mac" cal and update only my MM cal. It works off line, then synchs back to MM and to all my devices. I can add a local cal to my mac but then I have two entires, ical will consolidate them to one view on the MM cal but for me the MM cal is the main one. So IMHO delete any local "on my mac" calendars, and use the MM one. That will synch to MM and to your devices.
