To my big surprise, the Calendar icon is totally transparent, with only the text "Nov 12"

what version of the OS? (am, again, on public beta 2; never had an issue previously...)

EDIT: a SECOND reboot just fixed the issue, but... will see tomorrow if it keeps (since it's happened daily since 10.12.2 pb2)...

I'm on 10.12.2 pb2

I had that issue a few days ago (Nov 10). I don't remember if I saw the issue after the clocked turned midnight, but I haven't seen it since that day. I can't recall whether I rebooted.... though I don't think I've had a need to, so probably no. I am on the latest beta 16C41b.

I have not rebooted yet, but today after a night of lid closed (sleep) the icon is exactly like in your picture.

Edit: After reboot, the Calendar icon is back to normal.

huh. today my icon is fine... first 3 days of 10.12.2pb2, it was like the picture. so, will keep an eye on it over the next few days/weeks...

anyway, i reported the glitch in feedback assistant.

got an email from apple (!) that this is fixed with today's beta (14november)....

EDIT: seems fine now.

if it happens again, open Terminal and type: killall Dock

That will reset the dock and fix the iCal icon issue

way past that, that did not fix the problem. apple acknowledged it (in an actual email), and the problem was fixed in the newer beta.
