I have a shared google calendar with my wife... when she puts something in there (to let me know what i am doing at the weekend :) i get sent an email AND the calendar invitation... so i get two alerts on my phone/ipad.

anyone else find this annoying or have a way to stop the email but keep the invitation alert?

i tried filtering (in gmail) the emails to be marked as read and archived... but then i loose the invitation alert on my devices also :(

any ideas?

Very annoying. Its the reason me and my wife moved to iCloud. Hotmail also has email notification when events are created/changed w/o any invitations. What annoys me about Google is having to accept the event once the invitation is sent. Heck, I've given permission to my wife so why do I have to get an invite....

ok so i think i found the solution. in gmail i just setup a rul to mark the incoming emails a Read but not archived. With this setup i still get the invitation on my iphone etc, but no duplicate email (which is the desired behaviour for me)

in google calendar you can set shared calendar invitations to auto-accept... i spotted it yesterday while i was digging to solve my problem

Yes but I don't want any invitations sent..... Google needs to change this.

I believe the is also an option in the calendar settings on you iOS device to disable all invitation messages
