After updating to iOS5 I have found on my iPad when I initially open the calander app it is blank. If I change the view the calanders reappear.

It's getting irritating now.

Anybody else with the same issue?

Yep. Same here. Caused a minor panic attack the first time -- I thought I lost all my appointments.

Happened a few times for me too, with my Google calendars. Moved my calendars to iCloud yesterday, and it hasn't happened since. But I think my contacts' birthdays (stored in iCloud) disappeared along with the Google calendars, so might not be a Google problem.

iPad 2, Google account setup with the built in Gmail option, not Exchange.

iCal not syncing on ipad

I'm having the same problem. I made the switch to iCloud today. The only apps that stayed on my iCal on my iMac are the ones I typed at my computer. My iCal on my iPad is completely blank.... it seems the only device that held every appt is my iPhone.

Does anyone know how to fix? Never had this problem with mobile me. When I go to my settings, there are a ton of calendar names (a bunch of numbers and letters) that were not there before. Does this for the new Reminders app as well. Completely irritating!!!

I just need all my devices to sync like they did before. Help!

Just happened again. Might be a cache/memory issue?

Any resolution on this? Mine always opens blank, switching to the previous month and back makes everything reappear, but it's a nuscince. I am synced with iCloud, but also use google calendars.

Happening from Day 1 of iOS 5 upgrade on 1st Gen iPad only in Monthly view, which is (of course  ) my preferred opening view. Glad to see this thread & confirm that's it's not just my problem. Calendar displays OK on iPhone 4.

Calendar is only local - no Google or iCloud sync involved.

Hoping this is one of those various glitches that will benefit from v.5.0.1 fix.

Phew. So relieved it's not just us. Doesn't do it on my iPad 2 but does it on my wife's iPad 1. My wife hates me always updating and didn't want iOS 5 on as she was quite happy with the way her iPad 1 worked. So she doesn't have the iCloud on at all as first time i turned it on for her it wiped her entire calendar as it doesn't support windows outlook yet. Got it back by manually syncing back to her pc. Hope they fix this. They fiddled with the calendar too. Both of us don't like the automatic addition of a time at the right in a calendar box thus reducing the amount of visible text in the event line. Also you used to be able to click in a date box and then on the add button and it would open with that date. That no longer works so it involves two more clicks to do the same job. Personally I think iOS 4 was better. Only really good thing is Safari which is so much faster, tabbing and Reader List are all brilliant. I wish they would give us back the old calendar.

I too found this as soon as I changed to OS 5.
Are they going to fix this?
I have no interest in the Cloud.

Same problem

My wife is having the same issue. Updated to iOS 5.0.1 and calendar has the blank month on startup... she clicks in to another month and then back and it appears, so nothing lost... just an irritation!

Same thing is happening to me. I have to view another month first then move back to the correct month. Hopefully this will be fixed when iOS 5.1 comes out

Hi everyone
I had the same problem, calendar opens blank until you reselect a different page and then return.
Solution, Completely power down. something we rarely do , we nearly always leave it in sleep mode. Hold the side power button until the power off slide appears. slide it and then restart. My calendar works fine now
iPad 1 ios5

Paul

Done that a million times.... Makes no difference for me
Me, neither. It's a temporary fix that lasts for a day, if you're lucky. When midnite comes, the date will not advance on the Monthly view without the flip-flop that we have been using to view Monthly.

The Calendar is definitely hinky since iOS 5 came.

Happened to me right after the iOS5 update - lost all my Gmail calendar entries. Was disgusted, so re-created my calendar (and moved email and contacts, too) into iCloud's. Has been very stable ever since.

However, every once in a while, the month-view iCloud calendar will have some days blank. But that's usually after I've been very active with my iPad or iPhone. If I do a hard reset, all better (hold down power and home button until white apple shows up). On my PC, I use Safari to access my iCloud email, etc., and if the calendar has problems there, I close Safari and reopen it. Normally, that takes care of it.

What happened to my events??

Yep, I'm having that same problem. As has been stated I just flip it to the next page and back and everything magically reappears, but it is a bit of pain. I expect better from Apple. Ever since my upgrade to 5.0 I've had all sorts of glitches, including pages just crashing on me. I hope all of these issues are addressed in the next iOS iteration.

Day One (Thursday):

Since upgrading to iOS5.1 on Wednesday nite, I've had no problems with the Calendar Monthly View opening blank. After the upgrade all appointments were still in place and have remained fixed for the entire day. I checked again just after 12:00 AM (moments ago) in order to see if the Date indicator would automatically advance and it did not do so. I still had to flip/flop the View in order for the new day to be chosen, however all of the appointments were still in place and that is a HUGE improvement.

I hope that it lasts. :)

UPDATE: Two hours later & the Monthly View just opened blank, the first time in 24 hours, since upgrading. Bah.

Day Two (Friday):

And now all thru the day, the Calendar has remained filled as it did all day yesterday after upgrading the nite before. Perhaps the glitch that I had after midnite was just that, a glitch. Will watch it over the weekend. I have hope. :)
