iPhone Calendar search doesn’t show events next year

So when I am in calendar with my iCloud account, I have events scheduled for mid to late next year. But when I search for them they don’t come up. Is there a setting I’m missing?

iOS Calendar (as well as macOS Calendar) search only will report events matching the search term found during the period of the upcoming 12 months

Why is that? In the business world nobody needs to search beyond 12 months?!
