When in Day view, what happens if you tap on a calendar entry - does it bring up the details (notes, repeats, alerts etc.)? And, can you then tap on the notes to then edit/add notes?

Can you drag the events around in Day view to change their time, like you can in iCal?

I take it there's no way to copy an entry onto another SINGLE time or date (except create a repeat for it, which has limited options)?

And, how do you delete an entry in Day view? What's the quickest way to do it?

Thanks for any help.

Is there a Week view? I don't see one.

Yes, it opens that event. You can edit it from that screen as well.

No - any dragging in this view will be interpreted as scrolling.

No.

Tap the event to view it, tap Edit, tap Delete Event.

Thanks Neven.

Hopefully SMS/Email-like swipe-delete will make it's way into Calendar before too long.

So in order to add some notes to an entry, I tap the entry, then just tap on the Notes? Or do I have to tap the entry, then edit, then notes?

Also, is there an option to just choose to sync calendar entries from a certain number of days/weeks before? ie. In 2 years time I don't want 2 years worth of calendar entries clogging up my iPhone's memory - can I maybe keep ALL entries on iCal on my Mac, and only say entries from the last 2 months on my iPhone?

I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't think deleting calendar entries is high on the list of common user tasks. Just saying...

The entry opens in read-only mode until you hit Edit.

By the way, I don't think the Day view is very useful on iPhone. The screen isn't tall enough to show a whole lot. List is by far the best calendar view.

No. Keep in mind, a typical calendar entry is less than one KB in size; if you have one entry per day for the next five years (I quickly averaged my entries for this month) that's a little over 1 MB, less than a third of one song. I really wouldn't worry about the space your calendar is taking up on your iPhone.

Cool, thanks for the info and advice.

I use the Calendar on my PocketPC as a To-Do list as well, basically looking at what I've got to do for the day (not necessarily by time), and then deleting when I've done.

Does List View always put the current date at the top of the list view every day? ie. Say if you're on today's date (9th), and leave your phone for a day, then go to Calendar tomorrow (10th), will the top of the list view still be at the 9th where you left it (assuming you've not turned off your phone etc.), or will it have shifted automatically to the 10th?

Also, I really hate Sunday being the first day of the week :p

It's not as functional/quick as my PocketPC Calendar, but I think I can make it work for me, and it'll sure be a lot nicer to use.

Ah, I see. iPhone really, really needs a To-Do list, and I'm certain that it will come out with Leopard.

Errr I guess I'll have to wait until midnight to test this!

Me too - with no week view on iPhone (and a questionably useful Month view) it doesn't really matter to me. List is so good, iCal needs it too.

I only use Day View on my PocketPC, but I can press left/right arrows to go forward or back a day.

I guess List View will give me this functunality, just up/down rather than sideways :p It just seems a bit too much to have every single calendar entry listed there to scroll through.

BTW, what's the quickest way to "jump" to a certain date/day to enter an appointment for that day? Is it to go into Month view and then tap on the day?

Oh and could you test out the "today's date at the top" thing and post tomorrow? :p
